BRACE FOR IMPACT: The Crashlands Story

Just some talk about general Butterscotchy stuff here.
Thank you for the kind words about the YouTube channel, you guys! We took a bit of a YouTube break just before the holidays, prepping for MAGFest 2017 and all that, but we will have something up for the channel to celebrate Dev Diary Season One releasing next week.

Wanted to take some time to post here for you all because I wanted to let you guys know a few things - and if someone could relay this into the Discord / SubReddits, that would be hella rad, as we're swamped with pre-release work atm.

DEV DIARY SEASON ONE has replaced the feature film on BScotch. The first episode is called BRACE for IMPACT as an homage ;) SEASON ONE will be 6 22-minute episodes and will release on the 1 year anniversary of Crashlands (Jan. 21, 2017) on VIMEO http://www.vimeo.com/ondemand/devdiary, STEAM http://store.steampowered.com/app/578300, AMAZON, and VHX https://devdiary.vhx.tv/. All but Amazon are available to check out now, while Amazon will go live on release day.

The Steam version is called "A Crashlands Story: Dev Diary" for SEO reasons and to make sure "Dev Diary" doesn't get us buried among DLC and free content for other games.

Likewise, the Steam version has trading cards, badges, wallpapers, and emojis and is being published by Devolver Films. Our goal is to get the season on more platforms (Google Play, iTunes, PSN, and Xbox Live) but to get those we need to find a distributor like Devolver to do what they did for us with this Steam release, as those four platforms are VERY walled up for filmmakers, and require obscene qualifications to post to. Likewise, post release we'll be trying to have conversations with Hulu, Netflix, and other streaming platforms to see if we can work out a deal to broker a 2nd season on another dev. Sales of this first season would definitely help.

Right now we're sending out promo codes / review copies to games, film, and similar press. If anyone has any leads or knows anyone that would benefit from an early copy, please let us know!

You can check this all out at our website http://www.devdiaryseries.com, and feel free to drop us a line at contact@foreveranastronaut.com or on Twitter @DevDiarySeries.

Last thing I will leave you all with is the latest trailer that went up a few weeks ago. Enjoy, and remember, you guys, we wanted to do this for BScotch fans and game fans alike, so this is for you!

Haha, I came here to cross-post the massive wall of text from Facebook but I see you've beaten me to it. Threw this up in the Discord chat as well, now I'm off to check the couch for change because $5usd ain't much for a few hours worth of awesome docu-tainment!!! Way to go @acsummerfield and cohorts! Wishing you the best of success and looking forward to Season 2 as well!!! :)

Thanks so much @MeaKitty!

Apparently we're getting a nice little suite of plugs from Valve on Steam today, so we should be on the main page, all the video pages, etc.

Time to plug away (just like we filmed BScotch doing... so this feels UBER weird).

Steam has this sucker 33% off today, to buy and rent, so check that thing out and leave us some reviews or recommend us to friends to help us stay atop the "Popular New Releases" in Video.

Thanks all!!!!

It seemed like a no brainer to buy this at 5 bucks, and after watching Episode 1 my expectations have been exceeded. Can't wait to binge the next five!

I think it really does a great job of making the Bscotch dudes relatable and understandable as human beings. Any doc that does that is a success in my part - I know we watch documentaries for the interesting stories, but that human element is so important.

Cannot say thanks enough to the kind words, @30xtra.

A lot of time and love went into this project and we're just super happy to be able to share the Crashlands story with all of you! Massive thanks to the Butterscotch fellas for allowing us to cover their lives for a little over a year, haha.

No problem! You guys did a great job and I'm excited to see what you do in the future.

After watching the entire series, I honestly think something like this should be played for students in middle/high schools to get them interested in game development. I'm not a developer myself, but seeing the real people behind the game would be a motivating tool for students, imo. It took me a while to really consider what goes into developing a game - I think most people just see the game for what it is instead of the work that has gone into it by real life people
